Crystal care guide

Most crystals need very little care. A few simple habits keep them looking their best.

Cleaning

Dust with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush. For hard, polished stones such as quartz, a quick rinse in plain water and a thorough dry is fine.

Soft or water-sensitive stones, including selenite, should not be soaked. When in doubt, keep a stone dry.

Strong, direct sun can fade some colored stones over time, amethyst and rose quartz among them. Display them out of a sunny window.

Store pieces apart or wrapped so harder stones do not scratch softer ones, and keep jewelry away from perfume and lotions.
